2 hr - Set out to a private sunset day trip to Cape Sounion. Our trip starts with a wonderful drive along the Athens Rivera. During this relaxing ride you’ll enjoy splendid views of the Saronic Gulf while passing through some of Athens’ most beautiful suburbs, including Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, and Varkiza. Arriving at the Cape Sounion, you will visit the 5th century B.C. Temple of Poseidon with its magnificent panoramic view of the Aegean Sea (on a clear day you can see several islands). Cape Sounion has long played an important part in Greek mythology and history, and the first recorded mention of it occurs in the Odyssey, as the last safe landing before Poseidon scattered the returning Greek navy. As god of the sea, Poseidon was very important for ancient Greeks, and the scale of the Temple at Cape Sounion reflects that. After visiting the Temple, filled from the beauty, the history and the culture of this site you are set to admire one of the most amazing sunsets you could ever imagine. Unforgettable experience

This is a perfect choice for half-day private trip out of Athens. The Temple of Poseidon is a perfect place, combination of impressive ancient archaeological site and splendid nature. The restaurant stop afterwards was also a great choice. I really enjoyed my conversation with Ioannis. He is very knowledgable with not only ancient history but also recent history since Greek independence. I didn’t expect to have such an exciting and unforgettable experience even for a December day in Athens :) So to summarize, highly recommended!

Beautiful, fun, and delicious dinner

The sunset was amazing and a wonderful point. The dinner was excellent and inclusive which was a nice bonus to just order whatever we wanted to try. Our driver also made the entire drive (which with Athens traffic can often be extended) completely enjoyable. Petros (our driver) was amazing: friendly, informative, and thoughtful. Greatly enjoyed the whole experience!

Must Do Excursion

This excursion was excellent! Highly recommended!! We arrived at Cape Sounion right before sunset and the scenes were magical on the drive there. Alex was excellent - great conversation and has a vast knowledge of Greek history and other facts about Athens. He also recommended other excursions and places to visit while we’re here. Dinner was excellent, and I highly suggest stopping to get ice cream right next door. All around excellent experience! So glad we signed up!

Thanksgiving In Greece

Yiannis was amazingly friendly and full of information around every corner of our drive. We talked past and present Greece. We had a great time and a delicious local dinner.

Could Have Been Better

Pick up was prompt and we made it to Posiden’s temple with plenty of time before sunset. Our guide was knowledgeable but some of the topics he brought up to discuss (politics, being underpaid, etc.) along with passing comments regarding sexual preference were highly inappropriate and had no part of a tour, especially around children. I agree with the previous reviews reading the meal - it was just okay. The extra stop regarding the ice cream is misleading - there is no extra stop, the ice cream shop is next to the restaurant and also the ice cream is not included.
